Because Divine truth coming down from the Lord through the heavens makes the hearts glad and infuses the holiness of worship, and therefore trumpets were sounded on days of gladness and at the feasts...

When checking different translations for this Psalm, it was interesting to note that the King James & the New King James used "joyful sound", while the NIV used something altogether different.
Doesn't change the fact that the sound of trumpets and horns signifies the Divine Truth coming down from heaven, which should be a joyful sound!
