explain the Word in favor of their own loves,
and see therein earthly things,
and nothing of heavenly things . . ..

without anything internal
is in idolatrous worship,
because when he is in worship,
his heart and soul are not in heaven,
but in the world;
and he does not worship
the holy things of the Word from heavenly love,
but from earthly love.
