the merely human rational from Himself
when He underwent the most grievous temptations . . .
and after the temptations
He again conjoined Himself with that rational . . ..

. . . after temptations the rational was always elevated,
and this takes place also with people.
Every temptation in which a person overcomes,
elevates his mind
and the things which belong to his mind;
for it confirms his goods and truths
and superadds new ones.
