TCR 136 - The Right Hand of God

TCR 136 [4, 5}

To sit at the right hand
does not mean literally to sit at the right hand,
but it signifies the omnipotence of God
by means of the Human
which He assumed in the world.
By this He is in last things as He is in first;
and by this He entered into,
destroyed and subdued the hells,
and also restored the heavens to order.
Thus He redeemed both men and angels,
and continues to redeem them to eternity.
If you consult the Word,
and are capable of being enlightened,
you will see that by the right hand
is there signified omnipotence . . . :

My hand founded the earth,
and my right hand hammered out the heavens.
(Isaiah 48:13)

God has sworn by his right hand
and by the arm of his strength.
(Isaiah 62:8)

Your right hand sustains me.
(Psalms 18:35)


. . . the right hand of God signifies omnipotence.
