For the more anyone relies on natural facts
and keeps his mind fixed on these
where truths of faith are concerned,
the more he loses the light of truth;
and when he loses this light
he loses the life of truth as well.
Anyone may recognize this,
if he stops to reflect,
from his experience of people
who say they are unable to believe anything
unless they grasp that it is so
through sensory evidence
or through factual knowledge.
