"And if anyone causes one of these little ones
who believe in Me to sin,
it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea
with a large millstone tied around his neck.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter life maimed
than with two hands to go into hell,
where the fire never goes out.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter life crippled
than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
It is better for you
to enter the kingdom of God with one eye
than to have two eyes
and be thrown into hell, where
"'their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched.' (Isa. 66:24)
Everyone will be salted with fire.
"Salt is good,
but if it loses its saltiness,
how can you make it salty again?
Have salt in yourselves,
and be at peace with each other.
(Mark 9:42-50) NIV
After this, Jesus went around in Galilee,
purposely staying away from Judea
because the Jews there were waiting to take His life.
But when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near,
Jesus' brothers said to Him,
"You ought to leave here and go to Judea,
so that Your disciples may see the miracles You do.
No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret.
Since You are doing these things,
show Yourself to the world."
For even His own brothers did not believe in Him.
Therefore Jesus told them,
"The right time for Me has not yet come;
for you any time is right.
The world cannot hate you,
but it hates Me
because I testify that what it does is evil.
You go to the Feast.
I am not yet going up to this Feast,
because for Me the right time has not yet come."
Having said this, He stayed in Galilee.
(John 7:1-9) NIV
